Kathy Gillis has lived in Fresno, California most of her life. During her college years and thereafter, Kathy worked in the advertising field; however, her love of drawing and especially painting was always with her.
Leaving her advertising work, Kathy pursued her long desire to paint and joined a collection of Fresno artists, The Tuesday Group, artists who painted en plein air; that is, on location. It was the beginning of the art career she had always wanted and fullfilling the desire to connect her art with nature. Discovering the colors, atmosphere and escence of vineyards, orchards and the vast San Joaquin Valley in landscapes is a passion for her. Her still-life and abstract paintings reflect the attention and carefully studied harmony in the paintings of landscapes. Kathy's journey has included oil painting for the past several years and she has traveled to the Southwest, Central and Southern Coast areas for new inspiration.
"I feel that my most honest work is produced from being at one with nature. And I know it enriches my life!"
Kathy's work has been exhibited in many galleries and shows and is an Associate Member of The California Art Club. Her watercolor and oil paintings are in both private and corporate collections.
